A classic fireplace probably all know. For several centuries it was used as a heater. But today’s demands for efficiency and effectiveness of the heating system is no longer an open fireplace.
To meet the new needs of the operator, a fireplace (also developed gennant hot fireplace).Fireplace insert is equipped with a fireplace, the fireplace has closed, and thus for much better energy utilization of the fuel (usually wood) provides.
The fireplace insert has fireplace with glass door, so you can watch the fire as in a fireplace. Around the fireplace insert a chimney lining is created, so you can see after the installation of only the front of the fireplace insert.
Fireplaces (including fireplaces) are subject to acceptance. You should consult your plans in advance with your local chimney sweep.
This guide is only meant to make an idea about building a hot air stove. It is not a complete guide and take over for the accuracy of the information will not be liable. All requirements must be met in the construction of a fireplace.
The chimney lining can be executed from different materials, depending on what you want to achieve. Suitable for the storage of heat from a panel fireclay, bricks, lava rock, etc. If you do not need heat storage and a “cold” chimney lining is satisfied, then enables the whole chimney lining of lightweight calcium silicate boards (Silca, Promasil, …) make easily.
From aerated concrete (gas concrete) during construction of the panel recommended, as this time with the action of high temperatures and as a result aushällt developed dust in space.
Aerated concrete is only the chimneys of the brick lining the wall behind the fireplace and used on the inside he is also insulate with insulation panels (see above).
The entire floor, walls and ceiling inside the chimney must be insulated cladding. In addition to the appropriate carrying capacity of the soil must be checked.
The chimney lining should be provided with grate to secure the air circulation and prevent heat buildup. One usually placed under the grate and fireplace insert in the upper part of the fairing. In this way, the natural circulation of air is secured within the shell. Regarding the size and number of fireplace screens are to observe the instructions of the manufacturer.
For the fender minimum distances apply from the roof and combustible materials, which must be observed. The upper grate is placed directly under so-called “false ceiling”. This “false ceiling” is running diagonally up toward space and prevents the accumulation of hot air above the fireplace grid (which would otherwise at this point, a cushion of air created by hot air).
During construction of the chimney must also be ensured that adequate ventilation. The fireplace insert can be run either open flue or connect to an external air supply. These are commonly used air-exhaust chimneys, which have a separate channel for supply air and exhaust gases. More on this issue, see our article “fireplace insert – with or without external supply of fresh air”.
This video shows the construction of a chimney:
The fireplace insert is close to the chimney flues. This should have a minimum wall thickness of 2 mm. The connection to the chimney must be run tightly. For the sealing of all leaks, you can use the heat-resistant Ofenkitt. The chimney connector is designed with a double wall lining.
The chimney diameter should generally equal to or greater than the exhaust pipe diameter of the insert. Depending on the manufacturer you can possibly the exhaust pipe between the fireplace insert and chimney reduced to a smaller diameter. These adjustments affect the path of the flue gas chimney. A prior consultation with chimney is necessary here.
Some fireplace inserts have no exhaust valve. In sollchen cases, the installation of a flue pipe with damper is recommended. With the throttle valve can be regulated by the draft.
Hot air distribution
Fireplaces give some of the energy as heat radiation through the glass window and the fireplace insert from the body. These can be stored in the surrounding chimney lining. The greater part of the heat is given off as convection. Convection means that the chimney is heated by the air flowing through disguise.
This hot air can be used not only for the installation space but also result in more targeted areas. For this purpose, fireplace inserts are used with so-called hot-air jacket. Warm air jacket is an additional sheet metal casing that surrounds the fireplace insert and thus traps the warm air.
The hot air jacket has to be connected at the top of hot air outlets (hot air nozzle) to the flexible Aluflexrohren. This pipe can then be distributed to the desired way in the house. There are a variety of trim pieces, with which one can realize the branch.
Shorter distances (up to about 4 feet in a horizontal direction from the insert) can be realized by exploiting the natural air flow. If the branches of the distribution of warm air to be longer, you must use a thermo fan which carries the hot air.
Serve as the final elements of the air distribution grid or fireplace Lockable either anemostats (rotary disc valves).
